Silver Pictures

A lifetime of interest in myths, legends and folklore along with the stories of the saints have resulted in these illustrations in metal.

Icons have always had a magical feel, drawing you into the picture, helping you contemplate the meanings of the fables and the importance of the messages the saints try to convey. They can be a way that the mind can concentrate on a particular problem, perhaps an intermediary in meditation, providing a sense of calm and mindfulness.

I love the combination of drawing and metalwork and using my favourite technique of flat chasing in fine silver, the silver lending itself to the mystical feel of the stories.

I use Keum Boo, an ancient Korean gilding technique that uses 24ct gold to fuse with fine silver, for the gold highlights on the pictures.

Pictured here are a very small selection of my fine Silver pictures. You can request to view more by sending a message via email. Alternatively the Silver pictures are currently on display at The Ropewalk Gallery.
